Hi, I’m Governor Bev Perdue. Every night, one in eight North Carolinians goes to bed hungry. These are our neighbors, friends, families and classmates and they need our help. Join me, Volunteer NC, and the North Carolina Association of Food Banks as we do our part to collect non-perishable food for a statewide food drive on September 10-12. It’s all part of remembering the sacrifice of 9/11 during the National Day of Service and Remembrance 2010. Help us end hunger in North Carolina and fill every empty shelf in our food banks across the state. Thank you!

The CA Food Pantry is an officially designated donation collection point for both food and cash donations. We’ll be collecting donations at the Food Pantry Friday through Sunday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Please help us spread the word so that we can more effectively help the hungry in our community. For more information call us at 919-471-0220.

Jesus did more than just invite us to pray together. He promised He will be with us to help us pray. He assured us that our Father in heaven will not only hear our prayers, He will also answer them and do amazing things that are beyond all that we can think or imagine.

This Fall we are learning more about unified prayer, experiencing more of God’s presence and power together. Not only will we read the Bible and listen to teaching on the subject, we’re also going to put what we are learning into practice. You won’t want to miss a second as we discover this mysterious and powerful connection we have with God and each other in prayer.

If ever there was a time in history when the church and the world needed revival, reformation, and transformation by the power of God, this is it. Natural or spiritual, young or old, bearer of children or childless, we understand that every woman carries the mother-heart of God. Women, the world needs the rich deposit of God’s love that only you have to offer. This Sunday we want to encourage you in that responsibility.

You are invited to come to either the 9:00 or 11:00 AM service and experience God’s grace. Nursery is provided at both services and our children’s ministry for kids ages 3-12 happens during the 2nd service. Dress is always casual. Moms, we bless you in the Name of the Lord!

The tragic situation in Haiti requires our compassionate response. The best way to help right now is to send funds. Would you like to donate money for the relief work in Haiti but don’t know where your money will be used responsibly? CA is partnering with Humanitarian International Services Group. HISG is led by a friend that we trust. Last Sunday we collected $1650, matched that from the general fund, rounded up a little and sent $3500. Another donor matched that and our congregation’s initial offering of $1650 became a total of $7000 for water purification systems, tents, food, and medical supplies. Register here for the CA 2010 Men’s Conference that starts tonight. Please let us know whether you will attend both days, only Friday, or only Saturday. Friday night’s meeting is 7:00-9:00 PM. Saturday events begin with continental breakfast at 8:00 AM. The conference will conclude at 1:30 PM. The 2010 Men’s Conference is open to all guys ages 12 and up. Cost is $15 for the entire conference which includes breakfast and lunch on Sat. Friday only - $5. Saturday only - $10. Pay at the door. Call the office at (919) 471-0220 for more details.

The end of the year is a good time for personal reflection while the new year offers new promise, new opportunities, and the hope of a fresh start. Fortunately, we have a God that believes in new beginnings all year round. At CA we’re looking forward to an amazing 2010 starting with our Men’s Conference, Jan. 14-16, closely followed by the Grace Churches International Regional Prayer Gathering at CA on Saturday, Jan. 31.
