Christian Assembly is always seeking God for ways to connect with the Durham community and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
In the process, we have discovered many ways to get us into the community and out on the streets, helping us interact with people in a genuine way, and providing fun things to do together as we help people with the love of Jesus.
Christian Assembly’s Emergency Food Pantry ministers to those in need within our community both physically and spiritually. Located in the church Annex Building, the Food Pantry is open the 2nd and 4th Thursday afternoons of each month from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The CA Food Pantry also serves the Durham area as an official emergency relief distribution location in times of disaster. We provided assistance to Hurricane Katrina victims that relocated to the Triangle. But the ongoing work of the Food Pantry is in providing food assistance to those presently in need in our community. Part of the Feeding America Network, some of the food in the pantry is provided or purchased from the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Since food availability from the Food Bank varies seasonally, we also rely on donations. A dedicated group of volunteers work together to serve in this ministry. For more information please email CA Emergency Food Pantry Director Wayne Littleton or call the church office at 919-471-0220.
Outreach Events & Projects
CA works with other churches, ministries, and agencies in our region in many different ways to share the love of Jesus. CA launched one after school program in low-income housing and we now assist with another. We do 4 major outreaches a year including evangelism events, city-wide prayer meetings, and community help and redevelopment projects. Please watch the website for more information on outreach events like Blacktop Games, Vacation Bible School, Back-to-School, the Holy Ghost Weenie Roast, and our Christmas Community Outreach. We also participated in the area-wide Greg Laurie Harvest Crusade as approximately 3000 people made commitments to Christ.
Another unique way that we let the community know that the church cares is through our own CA Hot Dog Team that not only provides support for CA’s outreach events, but also partners with other churches and organizations to help reach our city for Christ. Contact the church if you would like to have our team help with your church or community event.
