Blacktop Games sponsored on Saturday by Christian Assembly, Comunidades de Formacion Cristiana, United for Christ Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and Braggtown Baptist was a great success! Approximately 500 people participated in the event including celebrity guests Phil Ford of UNC and Chris Carawell of Duke, members of Durham Fire, EMS, & Police, and our own Rev. Kevin Ross, aka Irvin D. Clown, of Ross Family Ministries. It was an amazing representation of Jesus’ Church in Durham and everyone did a great job of loving our neighbor!
Due to ice on the roads the church office will be closed today, 1/11/11. Please email or call 919-971-1418 to conduct church business today.
Please check here for any updates or call 919-471-0220 to listen to the latest recorded message. We expect to be in the office on Wednesday, road conditions allowing.
This weekend let’s remember those who have carried the burden for our freedom. Jesus understands and He loves you. To all of our veterans, to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, and to those who are serving our nation right now we say, “Thank you.” With God’s help we will always remember and pray for you.
Have you ever wondered what God is like? Understanding God has been a series of messages designed to help anyone who has ever struggled to try and figure out just who God really is, what He is like, and what that means to you. We hope you have learned a lot about God and that you will really grow spiritually as a result of this series. This Sunday will be the last installment, where we wrap everything up. Please come and invite your friends, especially anyone you know that struggles with the concept of God or the idea of really knowing Him. Your invitation could lead to the most important discovery in someone’s life!
Sunday morning services are at 9 & 11 AM with nursery provided during the messages for children under the ages of 3. Our Children’s Ministry, Kingdom Quest, for kids ages 3-12 meets during the 11 AM service. We’re right on Roxboro Rd. in northern Durham – easy to find. Check out the “Find us!” link on the right for directions and a map. We’ll see you there!

On Wednesday CA will again be celebrating the 4th of July with our annual Pig Pickin’. Everyone is invited! The location is the Ribet’s at 8112 Johnson Mill Rd. in Bahama. The festivities start at noon and will keep going until around 3:00 PM. CA provides the pig (and some chicken too) and all of the ice, plates, cups and utensils. Everyone else should bring a side dish or dessert, something to drink, and a folding chair or blanket to sit on. We’ll have lots of food, games, and fun. We’re expecting a big crowd so we recommend you consider car pooling if possible. And please, no pets. You can call the Ribet’s at 919-477-8227 for directions or more information. Hope to see you there!
The week of June 25-29, CA is going to be having a great week of fun and education for all kids ages 5-12. Our Vacation Bible School this year is called Rodeo Roundup. Unlike other VBS programs we build ours from the ground up and we put in drama, skits, puppets, video, games, prizes, snacks and more to make sure the kids are engaged and encouraged! This year’s theme is built around not only helping kids know more about Jesus, but also helping them to share their faith with other kids and adults. The program runs from 9:00-11:45 AM each day, Monday through Friday. Then on Friday night at 7:00 we have a big Grand Finale so that parents and family can see what their kids have been doing all week and even get in on the fun themselves. You don’t want to miss it!
Everyone is invited to take part in this VBS. It is provided absolutely free of charge for all kids ages 5-12 in our community. You don’t have to be a member of our church. For more information and to register, please call the church office at 919-471-0220. We look forward to seeing your kids there!
We have just completed the annual Drive-Thru Christmas and over four nights we had around 900 people join us in this beautiful celebration of the nativity story. We have two more special events scheduled for this week to help everyone enjoy the message of God’s love at Christmas.
Friday night, Dec. 22nd at 7:00 PM we will be holding the annual Christmas Jam with Figgy Pudding! This is a really fun, family time. There will be lots of musical and other artistic entertainment that showcases the talent that we have at CA (ergo the “Jam”) part, and then we finish up the evening with Figgy Pudding and other desserts and goodies. Everyone is invited. Admission is two cans of food for those who can afford it, to help support our Food Pantry as we feed those who are struggling this Christmas and throughout the year.
Then this Sunday morning, Dec. 24th at both the 9:00 and 11:00 AM services we will be celebrating the birth of our Savior in music and message. Please accept our warm invitation to come and join us for this special time of worship and wonder at the incarnation of Jesus Christ.
We hope and pray that you all have a wonderful Christmas. Remember, Jesus loves you!
