Happy Mother’s Day

mother2
At CA we believe that every woman is, has been, or will be a mother. Natural or spiritual, young or old, bearer of children or childless, we understand that every woman carries the mother-heart of God. Women, the world needs the rich deposit of God’s love that only you have to offer. This Sunday we want to honor you for gracefully bearing that responsibility.

Nursery and children’s ministry for kids ages 3-10 are provided. Dress is always casual. Moms, we bless you in the Name of the Lord!

Special Easter Service

easter-2011sm

This Sunday is a special day not only at CA but also in the Church throughout the world. We call it Easter Sunday but it is the celebration of the morning that Jesus returned from the dead! Because He is not dead any longer we too have the hope and the promise of new life in Christ. Join us for this special time of worship and celebration and experience the life of Jesus Christ this Sunday at 11:00. Nursery and Children’s Ministry are provided for children up to age 10. Dress is always casual. No matter where you are in your life, come. You are welcome at CA!

Palm Sunday

palm-sunday-long1
This Sunday CA will join Christians all over the world in celebrating Palm Sunday. This event begins a remembrance of the week that led up to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It will be a special day in many ways. Our friends from the Gideons International will be there to help us collect a special offering in memory of our Founding Pastor, Paul Gordon. The Gideons do great work to get the Bible into people’s hands in every corner of the world and we are happy to be their partners.

Blacktop Games sponsored on Saturday by Christian Assembly, Comunidades de Formacion Cristiana, United for Christ Church, Child Evangelism Fellowship, and Braggtown Baptist was a great success! Approximately 500 people participated in the event including celebrity guests Phil Ford of UNC and Chris Carawell of Duke, members of Durham Fire, EMS, & Police, and our own Rev. Kevin Ross, aka Irvin D. Clown, of Ross Family Ministries. It was an amazing representation of Jesus’ Church in Durham and everyone did a great job of loving our neighbor!

Share Our Shoes

sos-logo
This Sunday CA will be collecting shoes to send to our partner, Share Our Shoes. It is estimated that there are 400 million people in the world today without shoes and 1.5 billion pairs of shoes sitting unused in our closets. To date SOS has given away over 10,000 pairs of shoes to people here in the Triangle and has already sent 412,800 pairs of shoes to Haiti toward a goal of 1 million. There are many people, even some who live near us, who would consider what we have in our closet as treasure. Bring the shoes you aren’t using this Sunday and share the blessing you have with those in need so they too will glorify God.

“And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
John 1:14

Several years ago singer Joan Osborne asked the musical question, “What if God was one of us?” What if God already answered that question in person? What if Jesus was both God and human as the Bible says? It’s a big idea and one that deserves our attention. If it is true then we might need to rethink our ideas about God, nature, human existence, life, death, good, evil, body, soul, spirit, and what else might be out there beyond our experience. As the world considers the birth of a very special baby at Christmas, we’re going to consider what the incarnation meant to mankind then, and especially to us today. Come and join us for the conclusion of this series this Sunday at 9 & 11 AM.
