This weekend some of our ladies will be in the NC Mountains for the Antioch Ministries Wellspring Conference, Loving God. Often Christians talk about having a “mountain top experience,” meaning a time of spiritual excitement from the sense of God being unusually near. Those experiences are always encouraging, but the truth is that we are never very far from God. He’s always there with us whether we are on the top of the mountain or in the bottom of the pit. Psalm 23 provides a good reminder.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside quiet waters.
He restores my soul;
He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I fear no evil, for You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.
Please join us Sunday at either the 9:00 or 11:00 AM service. Our childrens’ ministry meets at 11:00. And remember, God is always with you.
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ~ Matthew 28:18-20
For Christians this is not an optional teaching of Jesus; it is a command. In fact, it is one of the commands that makes some people angry. However when we follow Jesus, when we love God and people as He also commanded, we are compelled to go to every nation and bring the Good News. As Americans we sometimes think that everyone understands that God is love and that He loves every person. But no other religion or philosophy teaches that there is a loving God, or that Jesus died for us so that we could be saved from the consequences of our sin. People need to hear that message.
What is it like to live in a foreign, hostile culture that considers the loving God we believe in to be so dangerous that people are willing to kill you? What does it mean to do what Jesus commands? Find out this Sunday as we visit with a couple that is going to one of the nations where very few people have heard about the love of Jesus. They will be speaking at both the 9:00 and 11:00 AM services. Dress is casual. Our children’s ministry meets during the 2nd service. Come and hear what it is like to go and do as Jesus commands.
“God has a plan for your life.” You may have heard that somewhere, but we want you to know that it is true. He says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.”
Jesus has a plan not only for individuals, but for His church. His plan for CA is to do something remarkable to help bring about His Kingdom in the far reaches of the earth. This Sunday at either the 9:00 or 11:00 AM services you’ll discover more of God’s plan, for you and for all of us together. After the 2nd service, you are invited to be our guest at a picnic with food, games, good conversation, and friendly people. Come in picnic attire and join us!
Does God care about your business? In these troubled financial times the answer to that question has major implications for us, our family, and our jobs. GCI Prophet Michael Cotten will be with us this Sunday to speak from the heart of God regarding you and your business. Think church doesn’t have anything to say that relates to your life? You may be surprised.
You are invited to either of our services this Sunday, at 9:00 or 11:00 AM. Nursery is provided during the message and Kingdom Quest, our children’s ministry, meets during the 2nd service. Dress is casual. We hope to see you there!
